NATO new Strategic Concept - mainstreaming of women’s human rights and gender equality
The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) is scheduled to adopt its new Strategic Concept at the Alliance Summit to be held in Lisbon later this year, on the 19th and 20th November.
Take this opportunity to lobby at national and European level for the mainstreaming of women’s human rights and gender equality in this international organisation.
The EWL has sent a letter to NATO Secretary General available here. This is in line with our work on Women, Peace and Security, and follows up on what the EWL has been advocating for this year, in the framework of the 10th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325. See the 10 points on the 10 years of UNSCR 1325 here and the EWL Position Paper on Gender and Conflict here.
In order to make our voices heard from all over Europe, send a similar letter to your NATO national representative (http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive...), your minister of defense (http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive...) and your minister of foreign affairs (http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natolive...).
You will find some email addresses of the secretariats of the NATO national delegations here.
