There were no survivors in flight carrying Polish President, his wife and many Polish officials including women whom we knew and who supported women's rights:  Izabela Jaruga Nowacka,  a feminist and former Plenipotentary of the Polish Government for Equal Opportunities, Maria Kaczynska, President's wife who supported some of our efforts and legendary Anna Walentynowicz who started "Solidarity" movement in Poland.

They were going to Smolensk in western Russia to commemorate the anniversary of the murder of thousands of Polish officers by the Soviet Union at the beginning of World War II.
