More that 100 delegates from all the continents came to Sofia, Bulgaria, to participate in the Social Watch 3rd Assembly that took place in September 23-26th 2006.

Network of East-West Women was invited as the Potential Member. In the Report -launched officially on September 25th in the evening at the official conference - NEWW-Polska already has it’s contribution (see page 47) – describing the gender budget initiatives in CEE/CIS region. NEWW, as the member of the polish NGDOs platform "Grupa Zagranica", has great chance to join Social Watch especially that gender issues are becoming more and more important for the Social Watch research and lobbying.

With support of Social Watch (I would like to especially thank Cecilia Alemany and Karina Batthyany for their openess and explanations concerning indexes) the EU Gender Watch gained the Social Watch data and methodology for comparison of the reports from Georgia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. Gender Equality Index (GEI) is one of the best constructed gender indexes over the world and also provides the correlations to the previous years and UN other indexes.

It was a pleasure for me to meet so many people and discover the possibilities of cooperation. Social Watch has opened a new doors with lots of ideas that can be implemented in the nearest future.
