The International Week of Support for Victims of Crimes will take place in Poland from Monday, 21 February to Friday, 25 February 2011. On this occasion the Network of East-West Women, NEWW-Polska will organize an international conference:
"Raising Awareness and Working Together to Combat Domestic Violence against Women in South Baltic Region".
The Conference is a part of the project “South Baltic Violence Free Zone” which is part-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund. NEWW-Polska’s partners in this international cooperation to combat and prevent violence against women are: Kretinga Information and Training Centre from Lithuania and Women’s Shelter Karlshamn from Sweden.
The aim of the conference is to share and promote methods and solutions used in South Baltic countries to combat violence and support the victims.
During the conference our guests from Lithuania and Sweden will present their achievements in the field of combating violence and share their knowledge and ideas. The special experts, who will participate in the meeting, are: Pierrette Pape from European Women Lobby, Brussels and Wiveca Holst from European Women Lobby, Sweden – they will present the domestic violence challenges and opportunities at the European level.
